The Alesek Order — Masters of Shadows and Subterfuge
"In darkness, the seed of strength takes root—only the brave dare to bloom.”
— Kaelthar Solivane, First Veilwalker and Shadow-Apostate of Vumar
Faction Overview
The Alesek Order is a secretive and sinister faction in the Lands of Uzul, comprised of dark elves and cave trolls who have risen from the Underdark to seize power above. Through mastery of necromancy, shadow magic, and summoning, they blend brutal force with cunning espionage. While currently aligned with the Nargok Empire, the Alesek, small in number, harbor their own ambition: to manipulate, subvert, and ultimately dominate the orcs, goblin and hobgoblins.

Origins & Ambitions
Banished from their ancestral cities deep within the subterranean under the Earth, the Alesek fled to the surface after failed political coups and forbidden magical experimentation. Seeking a new empire, they forged uneasy alliances with cave trolls, orcs and goblins, offering arcane support in exchange for military protection. Yet their true goal is the creation of the Veil of Shadows — a vast enchantment that would cast their realm into eternal twilight, weakening their enemies while amplifying their own power.
Leadership & Structure
The Alesek are ruled by a Gerontocracy — a council of the oldest and most powerful spellcasters, known as the Veiled Council. Each sub-faction beneath the council has a distinct and specialized role:

Closing Thoughts
The Alesek Order stands not merely as a threat, but as a warning: those who embrace the dark often wear the warmest smiles. In the silence of their rise, even allies would be wise to watch their backs. I am aware how potentially overpowered the mana gems are so I plan on making them very rare, especially for lower levels. Dark elves will get a -1 penalty in daylight, especially considering they are new to the surface world and not fully acclimated. The Alesek Order are one of the smallest of the eight factions. Currently, the main antagonist comes from the Nargok Empire (in a surprising way also.)
